My first weeks as a volunteer in Ankara
Hello! I'm Nadia and I'm in Ankara for a short-term volunteering
project. I had
previously been to
Turkey for a youth exchange but I had never experienced living here
for a longer period of time before, so when I applied for the European
Solidarity Corps I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn more about the culture and get a glimpse of how people live outside of my own
country. There were some difficulties at first regarding the language, but the Turkish classes that we attend twice a week have allowed me to learn many everyday words and phrases.

We usually work at the office from 10.00 to 18.00. On Wednesdays we usually go to the Ministry of Youth and Sports to record videos and podcasts, while on Thursdays we package food to deliver to people in need. The rest of our time is dedicated to the publication of social media content and other creative activities such as knitting scarves and gloves for disadvantaged children. We also give our contribution by organizing social events as well as promoting youth opportunities through social media tools. . most of the next month here!
